I also am involved in small office network installations using Windows peer to peer networking, and Windows NT operating systems. While we were operating MTZnet, I provided phone support and technical assistance, as well as web development work and HTML instruction.

My position involved running jobs under DOS/VSE-SP on an IBM 9370 series mainframe, under AIX on an IBM RS/6000, and OS/2 and Windows programs on PC’s connected to an OS/2 LAN server network. As I worked both second and third shifts, I was required to work unsupervised, and solve, if possible, and problems that would arise during my shift.

While attending classes at Richland, I worked part time running student programs on the college’s mainframes, assisting students and instructors with using various PC software packages, and answering programming questions. I also helped in the initial installation of the Token Ring network at the college’s earlier location, and the reinstallation at the college’s permanent facility. I also performed minor PC maintenance and hardware and software installs.

 

 

Additional Work Experience:

I tutored Basic, FORTRAN, and COBOL while at Richland, and did an internship as a programmer with DMCOC in Decatur during my last semester. I delivered pizzas for Monical’s Pizza and detasselled corn for Bear Hybrids. I worked for BCSC during the summer repairing PC’s and installing network systems. I served several years in the United Stated Naval Reserve as a Hospital Corpsman.

Education:

I received my A.A.S. Degree in Data Processing from Richland Community College in May 1985. I received a Basic Certificate in Accounting in Dec. 1984, and a full A.A.S. Degree in accounting in May 1988. My course of study included Financial, Cost, Tax, and computer accounting, COBOL and FORTRAN programming languages, general business courses and general educational courses, as well as courses in several computer software packages. I was enrolled in the Electronics program at the Decatur Area Vocational Center during my last two years of High School, where I studied basic electronic theory, digital electronics, and computer repair. I graduated from Mt Zion High School in 1982. In connection with my Naval Reserve duty I attended the Naval Hospital Corps School, and Field Medical Service School, both in 1996. I am currently self-studying to take the Microsoft MCSE exams.
