I don't know whether to feel sorry for these guys, or incredibly jealous. I mean, here are a couple of guys who hire this kid (just a girl really) to play a little fiddle, maybe sing a few songs for them, and the next thing you know they're reduced to her backup band. Then again, the girl has the voice of an angel, and has propelled them to the best known bluegrass band in the country. All in all, I think they a lucky bunch of guys -- just listen to one of thier albums if you don't believe me.

The cover for this album -- So Long so Wrong, is an homage to AC/DC's Back in Black, an odd sort of thing for a bluegrass band, but they're an odd sort of bluegrass band. For one thing, the music kicks the subwoofer in the trunk very nicely, something you wouldn't quite expect for a band without a drummer. They are a very traditional bluegrass band, regardless of the hipster flair in album cover -- and the fact that they have done bluegrass renditions of songs that aren't exactly bluegrass standards. This album is different than the other 2 I have, mainly because Alison doesn't sing all the songs -- which isn't bad, it gives a nice traditional feel to it all

This is a very good album, but if you haven't experienced the Alison Krauss phenomena yet, you'd be better of with a previous album, 'Now That I Found You', which is a greatest hits type of record, and shows of the various styles quite nicely. Alison's voice has been compared to a young Dolly Parton, but if they're refering to the 'Jolene' era Dolly -- there's no comparison, Alison wins hands down. Maybe it has to do with the fact that she's not from down south (most of us folks from east central Illinois (she's from Champaign, known more for it's university than it's bluegrass) have more of a drawl than a twang), or maybe it's because she's cuter, or maybe just because she's better, but she is definately worth listening to.
