This is review number two for this little lady, ever get the feeling I really like her? The truth of the matter is, I like her more than her and the band -- though I'll still get any new tapes she does with them too.

What I want to know is this -- How can a woman that young sing sad songs with so much feeling that you were sure she felt every pain she was singing about? Rosanne Cash I can picture it from, but Alison? She's too young to have experienced the gut wrenching pain from the loss of a deep relationship. But somehow, somewhere, she puts enough emotion into her singing to make the stoniest heart go soft. OK, Never Got Off the Ground and Could You Lie are almost too bluegrass to get weepy about, but It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference, Empty Hearts, Ghost in this House, and That Kind of Love more than make up for it. Even my five year old recognizes this music as beautiful -- and it is. That angel voice singing about broken hearts and lost loves is so sad, it makes you want to grab the one you love and hold them tight -- so you'll never have to feel that way. If you ever need music for a lonely hearts club dance, this is record to play.
