Slick Willie

Why not, everyone else has put in there 2 cents, why shouldn't I. Of course, with public opinion changing every other hour this could be out of date before I even finish writing it.

They've decided they want to impeach him -- they say he lied about Monica -- and he should be brought to trial for that. A congress full of lawyers is holding the president to shame for lying. If the irony of that statement escapes you, re-read it. Did he lie? By the definition of the common man -- yes, he had an affair with Monica. We're not dealing with the common man here, we're dealing with the obscure and obtuse world of Law here -- and guess who is a lawyer. When questioned about Monica, Slick Willie asked for a legal definition for his relationship with Monica -- they gave him one that stated that he was an active participant in the sexual act. Given the nature of the act, and the syntax of the question -- he was able to say no, he did not have an affair with her. Did he violate the spirit of the law -- yes, but not the letter of the law, and that's what matters here. To make matters more convoluted, another court is trying to determine whether or not Linda Tripp and her trusty tape recorder were illegal. If so -- the tapes of her and Monica are out, and any evidence based on those tapes goes right with it. All congress can do is tie up TV coverage and spend taxpayer dollars -- and they're dumb enough to do it. Why do I say dumb? The day after congress votes to start the impeachment process, the opinion polls show the republican ratings heading down -- it's as if the American public is saying "We've had enough already -- it's time to stop". 6 years and $70,000,000 to catch Slick Willie with his fly open in front of a bimbo. The entire world economy is in the toilet, except for us, and congress wants to throw the government into chaos, just so they can get even for Nixon. The guy's a slimy hound dog -- in retrospect, so was Kennedy, and he got us all screwed up with the Russians, the Cubans, and the Vietnamese "war". Clinton's been a bit of a waffler, but he's been a centrist waffler and he's managed to keep things fairly stable for the first time since I can remember.

So, is there a point to this rant? Sadly, not really, but then again there's not much point to all this political wrangling. And do you really want President gore?
