This week's tirade:

War, what is it good for?

10 years later and again our country is at war with the bonehead of Baghdad. Should we have eliminated him the first time? Knowing what we know now, the answer would seem to have been a resounding Yes, but things were a little different then. I think the big thing was the complete shock at how quickly Iraq rolled over and played dead -- all our soldiers had to do was look at the bad guys and go "BOO", and they'd throw their hands up in the air and beg for mercy. We were hoping to keep this an international deal, so we thought it best to let the UN keep an eye on things. Well, we see how well that worked -- Germany and France made tons of money selling weapons, war equipment, even nuclear secrets to Saddam Insane -- we know that Russia and China have been selling them missles -- they've even had a few lobbed at Kuwait recently. So now we have to go in and settle the score once and for all -- a tough enough job, made even worse thanks to a bunch of self serving idiots here in this country. Let me give you a clue: Sean Penn may have pretended to be a soldier in the movies, but he has never volunteered to protect the country that has made him a wealthy man. The same goes for Mike Farrell, Susan Sarandon and the rest of the lot. And although the Hollywood Chicks (let's face it, they aren't really Dixie anymore, are they) sang a song about a soldier, they never risked thier life to defend thier way of life. The worst part is the utter hypocrisy of the situation -- the same people slamming Bush for going into Iraq are the same people cheering Clinton on when he went after Slobodon Milosevic. They want to compare this new war to Vietnam -- here's another clue, Vietnam was started by Kennedy (a liberal democrat) and ended by Nixon (a conservative republican).

So meanwhile, our young men and women are over there, risking it all to help get rid of a nutbag -- who knows, maybe when we finish tearing up Iraq it may end up in the same sorry state Afghanistan is in. Oh wait, things are going well there (what with all the new found freedom they have now). Maybe it will happen in Iraq too.
